Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: April 3, 2026
Gnomes on the Roam is free to use because we earn small commissions when you click certain links and make purchases. Here's exactly how it works.
The Short Version
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission — at no extra cost to you. We only recommend gnomes and products we genuinely think are worth your money. A commission opportunity never changes what we recommend.
FTC Compliance
This disclosure is made in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255). The FTC requires that we clearly disclose any material connection between us and the products or services we mention.
Amazon Associates Program
Gnomes on the Roam is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
- Our Amazon affiliate tag is: stanhattie-20
- When you click an Amazon link on our site and make a purchase (within Amazon's cookie window, typically 24 hours), we earn a small percentage of the sale
- The price you pay is exactly the same whether you use our link or go to Amazon directly
- Amazon affiliate links appear throughout the site: gnome finder results, gift guide picks, care product recommendations, quiz results, and style guides
Etsy, Wayfair, and eBay
We link to gnomes on Etsy, Wayfair, and eBay as a convenience. We are in the process of enrolling in affiliate programs for these platforms. We will update this disclosure as those enrollments are completed.
Featured Seller Placements
Our Sellers directory includes a "Featured" badge for select sellers. Featured placement may be editorial (based on our assessment) or paid ($50-100/month). Any paid featured placement is labeled as "Featured" to distinguish it from purely editorial content.
Featured status does not affect the recommendations in our Find Gnomes, Gift Guide, or Style Quiz sections — those are always editorial.
How Commissions Affect Our Recommendations
They don't. Here's why we mean that:
- We recommend gnomes based on quality, style, value, and customer reviews. Commission rates are not a factor in what we feature
- We regularly recommend buying from Etsy sellers and local garden centers, even when we earn nothing from those recommendations
- Our Gift Guide picks are based on what we'd actually give someone, not what pays the highest commission
- Our AI Gnome Identifier provides honest analysis regardless of whether we earn from the "find similar" links
- If we discover a recommended product has quality issues, we update or remove the recommendation regardless of any affiliate relationship
How to Identify Affiliate Links
We include a small disclosure note ("Links may earn us a small commission at no cost to you") near affiliate link sections. As a general rule:
- Links to Amazon.com are affiliate links
- Links to Etsy, Wayfair, and eBay may become affiliate links as we enroll in their programs
- All affiliate links use
rel="nofollow sponsored"as required by search engine guidelines
AI Gnome Identifier
The AI Gnome Identifier is a free tool. The "Find Similar" links shown after analysis are affiliate links. The AI analysis itself is not influenced by affiliate relationships — it provides the same honest assessment regardless.
